5.9 Develop research-based comprehension instructional practices for developing students' higher order thinking to enhance comprehension.

One center rotation that we do is comprehension questions from the story of the week. In their center, the students are to read the story every day and answer one question a day in their interactive notebooks. This allows them to improve reading fluency and comprehension, and allows for them to think critically. Another thing we do is calendar everyday. It is technology in the hands of students. We have two students assgined to the calendar job, and they are to facilitate it everyday. Calendar includes everything from math to sight words, to the weather that day. It incorporates the entire curriculum into one program, and the class does it as a whole together.
