5.12 Demonstrate skill in assessment and instruction with English Language Learners from diverse backgrounds and at varying English proficiency levels. 

In the above artifacts, one of my ELL students is using a weekly reading to predict the word under the block by inserting the weekly sound. The other activity shows him matching up vocabulary words and putting them in alphabetical order. Even if we think that an ELL should know what a certain word or object is, a lot of the time they will shake their head and pretend to know, without actually knowing. We need to build their vocabulary in order for them to succeed.
