5.13 Create an informational intensive environment that includes both print and digital text.

Encouraging reading is part of successful reading. There should be many opportunities in the class for a student to read, and also know where they stand while they are reading. I created an A.R. Goals wall so the students know how much of their A.R. goal they have achieved. Under it, I put up a chart. Every time they take an A.R. test and achieve an 80% or higher on their test, they get to ring a bell and put a sticker in their row. There will be an incentive once they fill up their row. We keep many books on hand in case they forget their books, or have already tested on them and have not yet made it back to the library. Another activity they do is ABCYA and Compass Learning on the computer. It allows them to play games while practicing reading and fluency.
